ask 4 The following is an informal email to a friend. After reading it fill in each blank with no more than three words.
Hello Kim,
Thanks for your email. It was lovely to hear from you, although I am really sorry to hear that you've been unhappy at work. Actually, I had a similar experience to yours when I did my internship at an online magazine a few years ago, so perhaps I can give you some advice.
I know you were excited when your boss asked you to write that big story about traffic problems in your city, and I am really sorry that it wasn't published in the magazine. The same thing happened to me when I was an intern, and I know how annoyed you must feel!
It's important not to lose confidence in yourself. Just because your boss decided not to publish it doesn't mean that writing it was a waste of time! I think you should ask your boss to comment on the article you wrote. She didn't publish it, but that doesn't mean it was bad. She may just have decided it wasn't right for that issue. Why not ask her if you could publish it online instead? You could add it to your blog and that way some of your followers will get to read it.
Just remember that the work you do during your internship year is never wasted. Keep a note of everything you do and all the skills you learn. This will be so helpful when you start your job hunt a few months from now.
Take care and speak soon,
Simon
