Glass, according to some research, can be dated back to around 3500 B.C., and the ancient Egyptians played an important role in industrializing it. In the early 1800s, the French confectioner (甜食商) Nicolas Appert began to use glass as a food preservation method when he discovered that foods could be preserved and prolonged by boiling them at high temperatures and then sealing them in glass containers. Glass provides a barrier against gasses and micro-organisms, can be sterilized, and is easy to reuse. It is also 100% recyclable without loss of quality or purity. But why isn't glass used more often? Primarily because it's extremely fragile and can be very heavy, leading to high transportation costs.
What can we learn about glass packaging?
A It is less often used due to its delicacy and weight.
B It can't be recycled without the loss of quality or purity.
