[听力文本资源]Maria Sharapova announces at a press conference in Los Angeles on March 7, 2016 that she’s failed a doping test during the Australian Open.
Russia’s five-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova has received a provisional suspension starting this Saturday for failing a doping test during January’s Australian Open.
The 28-year-old admitted she tested positive for Meldonium, which she had been taking for 10 years for health issues.
"For the past 10 years, I have been given a medicine called Mildronate by my doctor, by my family doctor, and a few days ago after I received the ITF letter, I found out that it also has a name of Meldonium which I did not know. It’s very important for you to understand that for ten years this medicine was not on WADA’s banned list and I had been legally taking the medicine for the past 10 years."
Meldonium was added to the anti-doping list this year. Sharapova suggested no sign of retirement and said she still wants to get back on the court.[听力文本资源]1.
